Who Would Have Thought Of That?

Who would have thought of it? ... our Anita would have!  We are sure that by now we have introduced almost every one of our crafters to our favourite adhesive - Glossy Accents!  Well, when Anita found that she'd ripped the seat of her brand new lawn tractor she got creative ... nothing a little glossy accents couldn't fix!
And if you need a little advice on not just fixing the problem but on breaking the news to your husband?  Well, another customer gave us some suggestions for that too!
Happy Crafting!    Linda

Lucky Day

St. Patrick's Day may have passed but I'd say today is Lilian's lucky day as she sets sail.  However, Lizette's lucky day was this past Friday - she won a Dell laptop from Toronto's Breakfast Television!!  Here's the winning photo of Lizette's son - all he wanted was an autograph but instead mommy has a new toy - sure hope there's scrapbooking or photo software on that computer!  Congratulations!

Whoo Hoo...One More Sleep and I'm Still Almost Sane!

We had a lovely class today, so if you weren't signed up you missed a great time.  I say this over and over again, but what a great bunch of ladies we have the pleasure of teaching!
They had a great time making ten different cards today.  Some very detailed and some stunningly simple.
We told them as soon as class started that they only had an hour left...LOL...so heads went down and they got at it!   A couple of the ladies were done by 1:30pm how good was that!
Remember though the idea isn't to see who's the fastest, just to have fun and get them done.
Here's a sampling of what they made today.  Look on our flickr site for all of them.

Have a great time crafting whilst I'm away enjoying the sun, sand and water.....such a hard job!

Have you seen it all yet?

I did my part, have you been in to see it all yet?  Linda's not kidding when she said there was lots came in!  Such lovely, lovely paper.  Well maybe I did order a bit much......
We've just got home from card class (only three more sleeps before I sail off into the sunset with my dear husband) and the ladies rose to the challenge of the special folds cards as we expected.  This is what they did tonight as well as make an envelope for each card to fit into as they were of course unusual sizes.  Thank heavens for Martha and her Score Board!

 Box Card Closed

  and Open - Very Unique

Twisted Easel Card - Very Easy to Make.

This is what my sister made using the same technique.
Now how Spectacular is That!
You could make this card fit a business size envelope if you begin with a piece of cardstock measuring 6x9.  For our class we began with cardstock measuring 5 x 10.

Have fun crafting.  We will be busily crafting at Nipissing University all day on Saturday with 20 ladies making 10 cards each....wowsa...that's 200 cards!!!!

Never Again!

Lilian has been rather vocal lately that she wants new scrapbook papers in the store .... she'll never do that again!  We had so much paper come in today that she should be quiet for a little while I would think.  It hasn't all been put away yet (not quite sure where we're going to put it all!) but you're more than welcome to drop in and take a look.  New papers have come in from the Hello Luscious and Life of the Party lines from Basic Grey as well as some of their embellishments.  We also have the new Chanteuse line by Kaiser Craft as well as some oldies but goodies from the same company.  Hope to see you soon!

Yikes!

Did I say something about Spring?  It was our grandson's birthday yesterday and that was supposed to be the first day of spring....so what's with that this morning and more snow?
Not to worry the weather will get better soon.  That's the English in me coming out with talking about the weather...LOL.
Did you miss the opportunity of crafting at the midnight crop with us on Friday night?  Dont forget there's always the opportunity of making either a card or scrapbook page for free!  Here's what the happy crafters had the chance to make during their five hours.    This card used lots of distress ink techniques, they loved it.

Spring

Is it beginning to feel like spring to you?   I figure when our friend Melissa is able to get into the store, then the weather mustn't be too bad, and she was in the store on Tuesday.
Linda and I are busily preparing for the crop weekend make and takes.  The Card Day class is all ready with samples made and kits cut.  There'll be lots to show you soon, but presently of course it's all under wraps.
Have you ever thought about making your own buttons for cards or scrapbook pages?   We sell many different colours of Sculpey that you can mold and bake to make your own.  Click here for a link to really good instructions on how to make them.
Happy St Patricks day to all of you who celebrate it.  Did you remember to wear green today?

Have you been Crafting in March?

What have you been doing to celebrate
National Crafting Month.
Did you check out the Stampendous Blog for their daily ideas?

Here's what some people have been busily doing....
We feature three cards and the Truck is a cake for a grandson's birthday.

Stamped with versamark, the butterfly card uses a Hero Art's background stamp which is then chalked.  The scroll flourish was then heat embossed with white Zing powder over the background stamping.

A gorgeous celebration card features the new Tim Holtz embossed Coredinations paper, along with Kaiser Craft's rhinestone flourish.  The beautiful handmade bow completes the card...lovely to receive this one!

The Baby Boy card is a combination of dry embossing, hand written greeting and embellished with lovely buttons.

We're only half way through March, so don't be left out in the cold...get busy crafting and let us see what you've been up to.

We Have New Stuff In Stock!

Well, there wasn't too much pushing and shoving but some die hard cardmakers were picking through the new papers as I was unpacking them!  Drop into the store and have a look at the new papers that have arrived; Coredinations Distress Cardstock (these match the Ranger Distress Ink colours!) and Core Impressions Cardstock (these ones are already embossed!) - great papers for sanding and tearing because the core of the cardstock is a slightly lighter colour than the surface. We have also received Blossom Soup papers by Jillibean Soup and Bubblegum by Kaiser Craft.  I'm not through all of the boxes yet but I did see some new yarns by Serenity Yarns and Deborah Norville.  There may be even more new goodies before we're finished!

National Craft Month

Well the days have been getting away on us with the sicky bug we've been suffering from.  Rachel has it now and sounds like my man is coming down with it too!  YUK!  Roll on spring with summer right behind.

That said Linda and I have been busy working behind the scenes and have just one more sample to do for the card making day and have begun to work on the make and takes for the Mega Crop Weekend.  Not only that, we brainstormed today another card making day for the summer!  Very much in the beginning stages but very promising too, I think you'll like the format we have in our heads for this.

Did you  notice the title of this post is National Craft Month.  I've told you some of the things we've been up to....how about you?  What have you been doing to celebrate National Craft Month?  We'd love to see your work.

If you click on the Stampendous logo on the right sidebar of our blog, they are putting a new project on their website every day this month.  Why not take advantage of their ideas.  We just placed an order yesterday for more of their stamps, a number of their stamps were used at our Christmas Card Making day as well.

Just to tease you, here's a sneak peek of one of the cards we'll be making at the all day card class.  You'll love this interactive card if you're lucky enough to have signed up for the class.

Oh I've just noticed the clock has ticked over to another day and today is a special day for me and my DH.   Can hardly believe that we've been married now for 48 years.....like my Mother used to say (remember that post ... LOL) how the time does fly by!

Becoming One's Mother

Did you ever think when you were growing up that your Mother/Grandmother was a little off when she'd say things like..."my, the days do go by so fast".
Did you ever think...that's so silly and I'm never going to say that, but do you say the same thing now, because I know I do?
And I'm not uncomfortable saying that perhaps I'm getting more and more like my Mother and being a mother to whoever is around me.  Ask Tracey....she'll attest to that...LOL.  I wouldn't let her leave the store yesterday until she'd eaten the granola bar I gave her.  I was also mothering Emily in her Mommy's absence as she was home all day from school with a tummy bug.  Most unusual for Emily to be sick a whole day.

Speaking of Tracey you have to go to Impression Obsession blog and see the lovely card she submitted for the blue challenge, here's a peek.  You'll have to scroll down a bit on their blog to see her card  but worth the finger excercise.

That said, you should also drop into the store to see more Impression Obsession stamps that just arrived today.  Don't leave it too long and find some are already sold out.   They have to be my most favourite background stamp.  Larger than average and price point is terrific.  You can take a plain piece of paper and magically make your own patterned paper with any of their background stamps.  Mixing and matching the backgrounds and the ink colours (distress inks are lovely this way) can make quite a unique piece of paper.

Did you see what the date is today?  It's the day when the whole world marches forth (March 4th).  Linda and I used to work with a young man who always came cheerfully into work on this day reminding us to do just that.  He lost his life to cancer many years ago now, but without fail on this day he is in our minds.  I was telling Emily about him today and hopefully she will wake up in the morning, jump out of bed and tell the family to march forth!  She always remembers the first of the month, so maybe she will remember this day too....LOL....her Mommy will be happily surprised if she does.  May God bless Rob's wife and daughters today.  Thinking of him brings a smile to our face, he is a happy memory to us.

It Didn't Take Long!

According to the school bell, I had parked and was walking around the corner of our building at 8:45am this morning and found ladies already lined up at our door!  With a couple of phone calls and a few more arrivals our Mega Crop Early Bird Special was sold out by 9:05am!  Don't wait long to register - we are already at 20 scrappers which makes us more than half full!
